Plastic Bottle Recycling (PET Bottle)
+ 查看更多
Plastic bottles are the most common packaging waste that we usually produce. The recycling of waste plastic bottles has a wide range of uses, not only may it become a new plastic packaging, but also into many other items that are needed in daily life. Caps can also be granulated and manufactured into various plastic products. Approximately 3 million tons of used PET bottles and containers are recovered in the world each year for recycling, making it the most recycled plastic in the world.
New PET products can be made by recovering and recycling PET bottles again and again through washing and melting. On the other hand, the PET bottles can be chemically break down into constituent raw materials, followed by the process of purify and conversion into new PET product including containers, carpet, clothing, packaging, strapping, automotive parts, construction materials, and many more.
What are the steps of PET Bottle recycling?
- Household blue bin collection
- Plastic bottles are usually sent to the material recovery facilities
- Sorting them from other recyclables
- Baling
- Washing at the reclamation plants
- Grinding
- Sale the recycled PET
PET bottle recycling in textile industry
Chemical fiber companies recycle plastic bottles, which can be turned into soft but elastic fibers after special processes, and then use them to produce belts and fillers. The recycled fibers made from waste plastic bottles has good elasticity and slightly thicker filaments than ordinary fabrics. The fillers are popularly used in making pillows, quilt batting, sofa liners, and clothing fillers. Thick fabrics such as non-woven fabrics can also be produced with a mix of recycled and raw materials. There are more than half of the T-shirts in sporting outfit retail store with label that states 100% polyester, some of the jerseys which football players wear in the World Cup are also made of waste plastic bottles.
Convert plastic waste into fuel
It takes 10 to 20 years for plastic to biodegrade, simply throw plastic away will definitely harm our environment. This area has been studied by researchers around the world to turn plastic waste into fuel. In order to extract the oil, plastic needs to be heated to over 400 °C. At this temperature, the long-chain molecules from the plastic are cracked and produce synthetic crude oil. Japanese inventor Akira invented a new machine that converts household plastic waste into fuel. The machine first heats the plastic waste, and then sends the steam to a system consisting of pipes and water chambers. The steam is cooled and liquefied and then reduced to crude oil. Crude oil can be used as fuel for generators and some stoves. After further refining, crude oil can also be converted into gasoline.
WPC composite material
Waste plastic bottles only need to go through 4 processes for about 30 minutes to produce wood-plastic composite materials. This composite material does not contain any formaldehyde, the cost is a lot lower compare to traditional materials and it is 100% reusable. The wood-plastic composite material has been widely used in construction industry templates, road guardrails, industrial pallets, packaging boxes, agricultural greenhouses and other fields
